Basic Tote Class

Come to Cozy Creative Center and learn how to make a Basic Tote bag with ease and confidence.  I will show you how to make your handles, lining, and birth a bag.  These are all basic sewing terms and skills to use in increasing your sewing skills and knowledge. You will also learn how to box corners for a bag without any fabric waste. 

Materials: 

½ - 1  yard of canvas fabric (or a panel of choice)

½ yard of quilters cotton for the inside of the Tote bag (lining fabric)

½ yard of Soft N Stable (18” x 42”)

1 yard of SF 101 (to be ironed on the back of the panel - This is optional and strongly suggested if using the Veranda Tote Panel.)

2 yards of ¾” webbing (Color does not matter.)

Thread to match fabric for quilting and sewing

Sewing machine / pedal/ power cord

Walking foot/ needles (80/12 or 90/14) extra bobbins, scissors/ pins/ wonder clips/ fabric corner turner/ Chalk or Fabric marking pen or pencil

Rotary cutter/small cutting mat

Iron and Ironing board to be provided by Cozy, sharing is caring. ????

You will receive the Tote pattern the day of the class.

Optional Homework that can be completed before class and make your experience more awesome!!

Teachers Tip!

If you are using the Floral Tote Panel from the Veranda Line:

1- Iron the SF 101 onto the Canvas or outside fabric for the tote.(stabilize the fabric)

2 - Quilt the (stabilized) Canvas or panel in any pattern of choice to some soft and stable. Each side of the tote should be about 17” x 16”. (2 quilted pieces only)

Use straight line quilting for a classic look or echo your fabric pattern for a more whimsy look
