Curious about coverstitching? Whether you own a combination serger/coverstitch machine or a dedicated coverstitch machine, this beginner-friendly class will help you unlock its full potential.

We’ll start with the fundamentals—what a coverstitch machine does, how it differs from chain stitching, and why it’s an essential tool for professional-looking hems, seams, and decorative finishes. You'll learn how to thread your machine, choose the right needles, secure your stitches, and explore a variety of techniques including decorative stitching and working with optional attachments.

In this class, we’ll cover:

  • The purpose and uses of a coverstitch machine

  • Differences between chain stitching and coverstitching

  • Threading and tension basics

  • Selecting appropriate needles (ELx705)

  • How to start and secure seams cleanly

  • Decorative stitching ideas

  • Overview of helpful accessories and attachments

What to bring:

  • Your coverstitch or combination serger/coverstitch machine

  • Power cord and foot pedal

  • ELx705 needles

  • Serger cone thread

  • Sewing table or machine insert (if available)

  • Any specialty feet or attachments (optional)

By the end of the session, you’ll have hands-on experience, greater confidence, and a solid foundation to start using your machine with ease. Perfect for beginners or those needing a refresher!
